EXPECTATIONS, HMM?

I never expected to reach this point in my life. It’s not because I minimized God’s might or power but simply because I didn’t deem myself worthy of getting this far. Although I never really knew God’s complete plan for my life, I’ve tried my best to not offend Him more than I’ve done in the past. But how many of you know that the more you try to prevent certain big things, the more other smaller things creep up on you?
So here I am today, amazed of God’s grace, mercy and compassion towards me. If someone were to ask me, “what great accomplishments have you achieved?” I would scratch my head and begin to list about how I’m saved, I’ve mothered and fathered my sons, I teach adults with developmental disabilities (a very stressful environment that I need to survive). I probably would remember that I’m a poet, writer, song-writer, a prayer warrior but you know listing all these doesn’t begin to scratch any surface that would seem enough to me! I’m sure I’m blessed than most but the truth must be told. In my life, I do not feel like I’ve accomplished a grand thing worth mentioning to anyone. Honestly, I think I’ve lived a less than average life and would settle for an even lesser if given the opportunity. By that I mean if I was given a choice to live quietly in a remote corner of the world without too much socializing except for my kids I would gladly jump at that offer. I seem to have had enough socializing thrown at me for over a lifetime already and come this day and age I would prefer to reject politely anything supporting the likes of such and go by my business! That almost sound selfish and even as though I’m bitter. Maybe I am both selfish and bitter, maybe living in such an environment would allow me to do some soul searching to fix self before merging back with society or before moving on to an eternity with God. Maybe the outcome would be a best seller once I’ve done counted my blessings over and over again! Who knows? Miracles happen everyday and all my accomplishments so far have been nothing short of constant miracles overload! That is not average. It’s just that God uses ordinary people and being common can make a person think the happenings are usual too but it’s not! Either way, being true to self works best and I feel I need to look forward to the best that is yet to come. By Faith I call it to follow, walk with, cling to and abide with me because I’m indeed blessed above the rest!

REMINISCING

Reminiscing

While contemplating life I’ve pondered on this greatly. Never once have I met someone who’ve yearned or desired strongly to become a bum, a thug, a homeless or a vegetable for dear life. And so I’ve learned to take people’s statuses into consideration be it in prayer or otherwise because no one owns tomorrow but God!
